He’s a pretty much forgotten political thinker from the 18th/19th century, who, when remembered, was remembered unkindly as a flip flopper. But tonight I was reading his speech The Liberty of the Ancients Compared with that of the Moderns and I realised exactly how applicable this guy’s criticism is to Singapore’s system of government.
